ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, is a public university-level institution established in 1972.
With close to 8,000 students, 400 faculty members and 200 non-academic staff, we are proud of our reputation as one of the most dynamic, innovative educational institutions in Portugal. As one of the most sought-after schools in the country, ISCTE-IUL always fills its enrolment capacity.
Our community-service sector has received growing impetus over the years thanks to the efforts of ISCTE-IUL teachers and graduates and, as a result, a number of scores of valuable relationships with outside companies and state-run and civil organisations have been established. Among the most worthy of note are the Institute for Corporate Management Development (Portuguese acronym INDEG), renowned for its success in post-graduate education and research and for its service to the community.
ISCTE-IUL is heavily involved in encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship. The nationally recognised Audax centre (Centre for Research and Support in Entrepreneurship and Family Business) is a not-for-profit research centre within ISCTE-IUL that maintain partnerships with local authorities, business associations and international institutions.
