The Portuguese Chartered Accountants Association hosted the 7th Congress of Certified Accountants on September 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.
Sustainability and non-financial reporting, as well as corporate responsibility, social entrepreneurship, sustainable economy, and accounting metrics and indices, were among the main themes of this seventh congress, as environmental, social, and governance practices will be certified and evaluated in the same way as financial data.
This event, which drew thousands of accountants from across the country, was inaugurated on the first day by Finance Minister Fernando Medina and on the second day by Secretary of State for Fiscal Affairs António Mendonça Mendes. and brought together 25 distinguished speakers who addressed various aspects of sustainability in various panels over the course of three days.
Ana Isabel Lopes, our Professor and Director of the Master in Accounting and Management Control, was invited to open the first panel of the event, with the theme "Sustainability & Non-Financial Reporting: What is it all about?" The scope of this Congress begins.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Paula Franco, Chairman of thePortuguese Chartered Accountants Association, Alan Johnson, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), and His Excellency, President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
