More than 60 students from ISCTE-IUL, divided into 13 teams, tried the methodology of the Global Management Challenge in an internal competition. The two teams with the best scores will enter the national competition.
These students competed under the subject of leadership development, decision-making processes and negotiation that integrates the master's degree in human resources management and organizational consulting and management. Nelson Ramalho, chair coordinator, says that the introduction of a program similar to the Global Management Challenge aims to develop skills by practice. "Learning when performed by experience is better consolidated," he stresses. The teams are formed randomly and at each decision one of the members assumes the role of leader, to firm learning. In the national test, she believes that these students will have a second chance to correct mistakes, will be in a more competitive environment, getting closer to the reality they will face in the future.
The students who took part in this action were divided into two groups from which came out a winning team that will go on to the national competition. Angela Chauhan, from one of these teams, says: "We tried to apply what we learned in the course and we saw how a company works". She is aware that the next stage will be more intense, as well as another learning moment. For Beatriz Silva, also from a winning team, "in the national competition we will leave our comfort zone, deal with people we don't know, in a more competitive environment".
