On 21 October 2026, Iscte Business School hosted a Financial Literacy Workshop in Auditorium B203, organised in partnership with the Banco de Portugal and CFA Society Portugal.
The event was opened by Professor Sandra Costa, Vice-Dean for Faculty & Research at Iscte Business School, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of initiatives that promote financial literacy among university students. Representing the partner organisations were Inês Póvoa from the Banco de Portugal and Miguel Lopes from CFA Society Portugal.
The workshop aimed to strengthen students’ financial knowledge and encourage responsible financial behaviours at a key stage in their lives as they prepare to enter the labour market.
During the programme, the Banco de Portugal addressed topics related to credit and the risks associated with digital financial services, while CFA Society Portugal focused on the importance of long-term investing and financial planning.
The session also featured the presentation of the 3rd edition of “O Meu Futuro Financeiro”, an initiative jointly promoted by the two organisations to enhance financial literacy among higher education students. The competition challenges teams to solve a personal finance case study, requiring them to justify their decisions on topics such as household budgeting, savings, and credit management.
Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about the Iscte Trading and Investment Club (ITIC) through a presentation delivered by Catarina Frederico, Cláudia Serra, and Mariana Abreu, students from the Bachelor's in Management. The presentation was followed by an interactive online quiz involving the audience.
At Iscte Business School, participation in the competition is being coordinated by Professor Szabolcs Sebestyén from the Department of Finance. At the time of publication, 17 teams had already expressed interest in taking part, bringing together students from different academic backgrounds and, in some cases, from different higher education institutions.
