Human chain for peace in Ukraine signed by ISCTE

On the past 26th of February, in Lisbon, thousands of people of various nationalities got together to support Ukraine.

This chain started near the statue of Taras Schevchenko (Ukrainian poet of resistance) and the Ukrainian embassy. Those involved gathered near the Restelo stadium and only stopped near the Belem palace. There, His Excellency, the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, joined this demonstration of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Thus, Belem Palace was illuminated with the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

The organization of this initiative and the mobilization through social networks took place between Friday midnight and Saturday afternoon, and was triggered by 2 professors from Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Pedro Dionisio and Mónica Mendes Ferreira, and by Pavlo Sadokha, from the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal.

This is another practical example of our motto: "A space to grow". Always with the aim of defending the fundamental values of the human being, the protection and promotion of human rights are part of the DNA of our School, where difference enriches us, and respect unites us.
