Our student Samuel Machado Capucho on the podium of the CFA Society Portugal's Ethics and ESG Award

The second edition of the CFA Society Portugal Ethics and ESG Award had a high level of participation and thesis quality. According to the Jury, the final judgment was once again difficult.

One of the CFA Society Portugal's core aims is to promote ethics in finance, and colleges can play an important part in this.

The advancement of study into moral, environmental, social, and governance concerns in finance and investments can have an impact on how society responds to future challenges.

The winners of the CFA Society Portugal Ethics and ESG Award in its second edition were:

First place: "The impact of ESG practices on debt costs - Evidence from the United States, Europe, and Brazil."

Lilian Lima Meneses, Faculdade de Economia, Universidade do Porto, is the author.

Second place: "The pricing of ESG Syndicated loans - an empirical analysis of spread determinants."

Jorge Fonseca Gonçalo - Católica Porto Business School is the author.
