The commitment to its impact and the support given to students were highlighted parameters in the Positive Impact Rating. "These results represent the recognition of the students regarding the work developed daily at Iscte Business School," says Dean Maria João Cortinhal.
Iscte Business School (IBS) is among the management schools in the world that have a positive impact on society, according to an assessment made by the students themselves. Considered for the third consecutive year as a "transformative" school - equivalent to the fourth level out of five - IBS achieved a score of 7.7 in the Positive Impact Rating - PIR. More than 12,000 students from 75 schools in 25 countries participated in the fourth edition of this international rating.
"These are excellent results because they represent the recognition of the students regarding the work carried out daily by the faculty and staff of Iscte Business School," says Maria João Cortinhal, Dean of IBS. "It is the third consecutive time that we have achieved an evaluation at the fourth level, which encourages us to continue investing in the quality of our programs in order to increasingly enhance the curriculum of our students."
This year, 127 IBS students participated in a survey conducted by Iscte Junior Consulting. The questionnaire included 20 questions about seven dimensions integrated into three areas: Energizing, which assesses students' perception of the institution's management; Educating, which refers to teaching methods and educational offerings; and Engaging, which pertains to the school's model and public recognition.
In the Energizing area, Iscte Business School achieved 7.8 out of a possible 10 points. Divided into two subcategories, the first involved students answering questions about the "governance" of the school, while the second assessed its "culture." It scored 7.6 points in the Educating area, which includes "programs," "teaching methods," and "student support," where it performed above average in this subcategory. IBS also stands out in the Engaging category, where it scored 7.7 points, surpassing the average of 7.5. This area includes "the school as a role model" and "public engagement."
The rating recognizes in its report that Iscte Business School "has been consistently improving its PIR score each year, revealing a growing recognition of the school's efforts by students." It also mentions as an example of this effort "the school's desire to align academic tasks with the challenges of society."
Created by experts from higher education institutions in the fields of economics, finance, and business sciences, in collaboration with non-governmental organizations, the PIR aims to assess how management schools contribute to solving the challenges society faces and how they contribute to change. The rating is supported by international associations: AIESEC, Net Impact, VIVA Idea, The Institute for Business Sustainability Foundation, and Fehr Advice.
