On 25 and 26 September 2023, ISCTE Business School hosted the 4th Annual PRME Champions Meeting. This meeting, which took place in person and online, was held as part of the 10th Responsible Management Education Research (RMER) Conference, which took place the same week on the ISCTE campus in Lisbon.
The PRME Champions are a group of signatories to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), an initiative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the Global Executive Education Foundation (GEMBA). This group is committed to working collaboratively to develop and promote activities that address the shared barriers to making large-scale implementation of sustainability principles a reality. The PRME Champions contribute to thought leadership and action on responsible management education in the context of the United Nations' sustainable development agenda.
The 2023 meeting was attended by around 100 representatives from schools and universities around the world. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences and challenges in the field of responsible management education, as well as to reflect on best practices for promoting sustainability in organisations.
One of the central themes of the meeting was the application of sustainability principles in practice. In this context, the participants attended a presentation by Professor Nelson Ramalho, from ISCTE Business School, on the SmartVitiNet research project. This project, funded by the EU's EISMEA, aims to develop intelligent and sustainable viticulture assisted by drones.
On 26 September, the participants visited Ramilo Wines, a winery located in the Colares region of Mafra. On this visit, the participants had the opportunity to learn how the SmartVitiNet project is being applied in practice. The visit also included a tasting of Ramilo Wines.
The 2023 meeting was a success, providing a space for sharing and reflection on education for responsible management. Participants left the meeting with greater knowledge of best practices for promoting sustainability in organisations.
