On October 16, 2025, Iscte Business School held the event “Engage & Connect – First-year International Bachelor’s Degree Students 2025/2026”, designed to strengthen the connection between the School’s Management and its international students in a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters integration within the academic community.
The students had the opportunity to learn more about the School’s mission, as well as useful and essential information to support their initial adaptation to university life, a new country — and, in some cases, a new language.
During the session, various School services were presented, including the Career Services, which supports students entering the job market through internships, open days, company seminars, and CV and interview preparation workshops. The event also highlighted Portuguese language classes available for international students, as well as sustainability and integration initiatives and other opportunities they can take advantage of throughout their academic journey.
This event aligns with Iscte Business School’s mission to co-create societal impact in an ethical, responsible, and sustainable way, in line with the School’s core values of Diversity and Inclusion, Integration, and Community Building. The School’s Management was represented by Dean Professor Maria João Cortinhal and Associate Dean for Engagement & Impact Professor Ana Simaens.
Participants also met a representative from the Iscte International Students Club, a space where they can connect with other international peers facing similar challenges of living abroad. This experience adds significant value to students’ academic and personal development by fostering adaptability, communication and social skills, intercultural exchange, and continuous learning both inside and outside the classroom.
The session was concluded with a Playmobil group activity led by Professor Ana Simaens, aimed at promoting integration and providing a relaxed and engaging moment for participants. Following this activity, students enjoyed an informal networking session, where they could ask questions, make new friends, and truly feel part of the School community.
