As part of the initiative “Education for Citizenship: Saving, a Commitment to the Future”, ISCTE Business School joined the celebration of World Savings Day, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) in collaboration with the Bank of Portugal, the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (ASF), and the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), under the aegis of the National Council of Financial Supervisors (CNSF) and integrated within the National Plan for Financial Education.
The initiative, which took place in schools across the country, aimed to promote financial literacy among students in basic and secondary education, highlighting the importance of saving as a commitment to the future.
Iscte Business School was represented by 21 volunteers — one faculty member and twenty undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students — who led sessions in 19 schools and school clusters in the Lisbon district, reaching hundreds of students across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycles and secondary education.
This participation reflects Iscte Business School’s strong commitment to social responsibility, active citizenship, and the application of knowledge for the benefit of the community.
The initiative was coordinated by Professor Ana Simaens, with the enthusiastic participation of the following student volunteers:
Francisco Marques, João Gonçalves, Filipe Soares, Isabel Monteiro, Alexandra Santos, Miguel Moreira, Carolina Henriques, Dinis Ferreira, Francisco Pereira da Silva, Rita Coelho, Martim Rosa, José Maré, Luís Fernandes, David Martins, Maria Riscado, Martim Azevedo, Matilde Faria, Margarida Correia, Leonor Caetano, and Mariana Cardoso dos Santos.
