Modeling and Simulation of Systems and Processes
Abel Camelo is currently Project Manager in different projects / companies, mainly related to the implementation of technology, applying the Agile and Waterfall approaches.
He also acts as a instructor/trainer, nationally and internationally, in the area of technology, project management, business analysis, industrial production and logistics.
Previously he was responsible for Infosistema's Business Consulting unit, where he managed and participated in process improvement projects with Lean Six Sigma, BPM implementation and portals development (in OutSystems and other technologies), business continuity, digital transformation (UX / UI Design), among others.
His experience focuses on reengineering and process improvement, business analysis for organizational processes. He has participated in multiple national and international projects, as a consultant and functional analyst, allowing him to identify and implement improvements in clients and to contribute to the increase of the performance of the business processes.
From 2011 to 2014 he worked as a consultant in entrepreneurship projects, business plans and investment analysis, guiding future entrepreneurs and promoting entrepreneurship in projects of various sectors of activity.
Since 2009 he teaches in higher education, in the areas of operations management, logistics and project management, to undergraduate and master's degrees.
He holds a degree in Industrial Management and Engineering and a Master in Business Administration from ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, holds postgraduate degrees in Energy and Bioenergy, in Lean Management and in Information and Enterprise Systems. He is certified in Project Management and Business Analysis by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is a IEFP certified trainer, among other professional certifications.

Álvaro Rosa is a professor of Management. His areas of research and study are Strategy, Governance and Cross-Cultural Management. In addition, he is also a researcher and teacher of Chinese Studies, namely Contemporary China. Currently, he is the Director of Master Degree in Chinese Studies, a joint program of University of Aveiro and ISCTE - IUL. Professionally, he is a coach and trainer in negotiation techniques.

Assistant Professor at ISCTE-IUL, Executive Director of the Executive Master's in Program and Project Management at ISCTE Executive Education, and CEO and founder of Winning Scientific Management. Passionate about the evolution of professional management, he has dedicated his career to supporting organizations in reinventing their business models, finding elegant solutions to complex problems with a focus on value creation and predictable results.
With a degree in Computer Engineering and Telematics from the University of Aveiro and a PhD in Business Administration and Management from ISCTE, he has combined management consulting with academia. At Winning, he leads teams and strategic and digital transformation projects in sectors such as banking, insurance, healthcare, transportation, logistics, retail, construction, and telecommunications. Using international benchmark methodologies in Strategy, Benefits, Portfolios, PMOs, Programs, and Projects, he ensures that each transformation translates into technical innovation, quality of execution, and sustainable impact.
As an academic and trainer, he has over 10,000 hours of teaching and experience in designing hundreds of benchmark courses in Strategy, Business Cases, Business Analysis, Project Management, and Cost Management, having prepared several hundred candidates for PMI® international certifications. Holder of a certificate of pedagogical aptitude (CAP), he seeks to continuously bring professional practice closer to academic research.
He is certified as a PMP® (Project Management Professional) by PMI®, MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional: Managing Projects) by Microsoft, ITIL by EXIN, and MCI (Management Consulting Institute). Throughout his career, he has served as Vice President of PMI Portugal (2015–2018), mentor to professionals at different stages of their careers, and guest speaker at various national and international management events.

Mariza Alpoim Motta Queiroz is an economist with more than 30 years of experience in a public transport operator. She has also a MSc in Transportation and a PhD in Transportation Systems at CERIS, in the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. Mobility Expert at URBACT. Vice-chair of the Research in Mobility UITP Committee. Presently, she is an Invited Assistant Professor at the ISCTE- Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, and a member of the U-Shift Lab (IST - Instituto Superior Técnico). Felipa de Mello-Sampayo is Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at ISCTE-IUL, Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and integrated researcher in BRU-IUL. The PhD Thesis in Economics from University of Birmingham in 2001 was publish at The British Library.
Among her several peer review publications, all published after the PhD and indexed in Scopus and Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge (WoS), there are 14 manuscripts without coauthors.
Her research focus in microeconomics models and their empirical application in several fields of social science.
Coordinator of the project PTDC/EGE-ECO/104157/2008, entitled "Health and Economic Growth" funded by the Portuguese Government under Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT). Coeditor of special issues entitled “Spatial Econometrics Analysis of Sustainability” of Sustainability and "Heathcare in China" of the Int. J. Environ. Res. Public Health.

Prof. Helena Rodrigues holds a PhD in Management-Specialization in Marketing at ISCTE-IUL, Lisbon, Portugal. She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Marketing from ISLA-Lisboa and Laureate. She has worked for global Asset Management Banks and in the Marketing Department for a Global Pharmaceutical Company.
She lectures Marketing and Tourism Marketing at ISCTE-IUL. Her main research is in the area of Medical Tourism, Wellness and Health Tourism, Service Quality, Social Media and Higher Education.

Henrique O'Neill is Associated Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management at ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, Portugal. He received his M.Sc. degree from IST/UL in Lisbon and the Ph.D. degree from the Cranfield University, United Kingdom. His research interests are broadly focused on the adoption of information systems and communication technologies to foster business performance, including business, operations and IS/IT strategy, modeling methods and approaches, organizational analysis and processes design, implementation and acceptance, and the quality of information systems in industry sectors like healthcare, banking and finance, the public administration and manufacturing. João Guerreiro, PhD Marketing (ISCTE-IUL, Portugal), Associate Professor of Marketing with Habilitation and integrated researcher at BRU-IUL. Research interests focused in the area of Consumer Behavior and Relationship Marketing, namely in the implications of technologies (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, IoT) for Marketing, with published articles in several scientific journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Journal of Business Ethics among others. Director of the Master in Marketing at ISCTE-IUL between 2017 and 202. Professional experience as a senior consultant in Business Intelligence projects.

Jonas Oliveira holds a PhD in Accounting from the School of Economics and Management, University of Minho, Portugal. He is an Associate Professor of Accounting at ISCTE-IUL Business School, Lisbon. He has previously worked at the University of Aveiro as Adjunct Professor of Accounting. His research interests are corporate risk reporting, enterprise risk management, corporate governance mechanisms, impression management strategies used in corporate reporting, sustainability and integrated reporting. He publishes academic articles regularly in some internationally well-recognized journals such as the Managerial Auditing Journal, Meditari Accountancy Research, Australian Accounting Review, Corporate Communications: an International Journal, European Business Review, and Journal of Risk.

J. Rocha is a theoretical physicist with broad interests spanning gravitation, high-energy physics and mathematical physics. His research focuses on the study of black holes and other solutions of General Relativity, and extensions thereof. He obtained a PhD degree in Physics from University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2008, under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Polchinski. He earned his pre-Bologna bachelor degree in Technological Physics Engineering, in 2002, from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. He is currently an Assistant Professor of the Department of Mathematics at ISCTE-IUL. Between 2015 and 2019 he worked as a research post-doc fellow at Universitat de Barcelona.
In total, J. Rocha has published 30+ original articles in top international peer-reviewed journals. He has vast experience in oral presentations (20+ invited seminars at various institutes in the USA, UK, Belgium, Japan, Brazil, Spain and Portugal; 30+ oral communications at international conferences). He regularly engages in outreach activities.
J. Rocha organized 6 scientific meetings, among which four were international conferences/workshops. He supervised 1 Master thesis, and co-supervised one PhD student and another Master student. He was a member of the examination committee of 2 PhD students and 4 Master students. He is the recipient of 5 prizes and awards, including a Marie Sklodowska-Curie individual fellowship. He is a member of Sociedade Portuguesa de Relatividade e Gravitação.

Leandro F. Pereira is an Associate Professor of Strategy at ISCTE. He is also CEO and Founder of WINNING Consulting, a consultancy firm with more than 300 employees dedicated to management and technology consultancy. Leandro Pereira has a PhD in Management with a specialisation in Project Management from the University of Salamanca and a degree in Management Informatics from the University of Minho. He has more than 200 indexed scientific publications and more than 10 published books. In 2017, Leandro Pereira received the Best CEO of the Year award from Best Team Leaders and Revista Pessoal, as well as the best student award from the University of Minho in the academic field. Leandro Pereira is the Director of the Executive Master's Degree in Programme and Project Management and the Postgraduate Diploma in Agile Project and Business Management at ISCTE Executive Education. Throughout his career he has supervised dozens of PhD students and several hundred Masters students. He was also founding president of PMI Portugal and the Business Case Institute. Leandro Pereira is an international expert in the areas of Strategy, Project Management, Problem Solving and Benefits Realisation Management.

Maria da Conceição Torres Figueiredo (1966) is Associate Professor of Quantitative Methods at ISCTE-IUL, Portugal, since 1997. She studied economics and econometrics at ISEG-UTL, Portugal (Licenciatura in Economics, 1991; M.S. in Mathematical Modeling for Economics and Management, 1994) and Quantitative Methods at the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), (Ph.D. in Quantitative Methods, 2011). Her research focus on Longitudinal Data Analysis and Applied Microeconometrics. Participated in projects, studies, workshops and communications in national and international congresses. of journals where she published: The Portuguese Journal of Social Science; Social Policy and Society; International Labour Review and Jounal of Youth Studies.

Maria João Major (publication name: Maria Major) is a Full Professor of Management Accounting and Control at ISCTE–IUL (Lisbon, Portugal). She holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, and completed postdoctoral research at Manchester Business School, UK.
Maria João was a Visiting Research Fellow at Alliance Manchester Business School, UK, in 2016, and at Griffith University, Australia, in 2001. She has published in leading academic journals, including Management Accounting Research, European Accounting Review, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Financial Accountability & Management, Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, and Public Money and Management, among others.
She is also the author and co-author of several books and international book chapters. Maria João serves on the editorial boards of Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management, Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change, and Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, and has previously served on the editorial board of the European Accounting Review. She is actively involved in reviewing manuscripts for several leading accounting journals.
Maria João has been a member of the scientific committees of numerous international accounting conferences, including the annual congresses of the European Accounting Association. She was the convenor of the Manufacturing Accounting Research (EIASM) 2016 and European Network for Research on Organizational and Accounting Change (ENROAC) 2011 conferences.
Additionally, Maria João has received teaching awards recognising her as an outstanding lecturer. Before joining ISCTE–IUL, she was an Associate Professor at Nova School of Business and Economics, where she taught across PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Executive Education programmes.
More recently, she served as a Non-Executive Director (NED) on the Board of Directors of Portugal’s largest bank, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, where she also sat on the Audit Committee and the Governance Committee (December 2021 – July 2025).
