Iscte Business School is proud to announce that João Monteiro Pereira, a Master's student in Economics, was one of the recipients of the Professor Jacinto Nunes Award. This award is presented by Banco de Portugal to the top Economics undergraduate students each year.
The award recognises students who achieved the highest final average in the bachelor’s degree in economics at higher education institutions whose last admitted candidate achieved a grade equal to or higher than 140 points. In Iscte Business School's case, the award was given to João Monteiro Pereira in recognition of his excellent, rigorous and consistent academic performance throughout his initial training.
The award ceremony took place at the Nave do Museu do Dinheiro in Lisbon and was attended by Álvaro Santos Pereira, Governor of the Bank of Portugal; Deputy Governors Luís Máximo dos Santos and Clara Raposo; directors Helena Adegas, Rui Pinto and Francisca Guedes de Oliveira; and the Dean of Iscte Business School, Prof. Maria de Fátima Salgueiro.
This award, created in honour of Professor Jacinto Nunes — a leading figure in national economic and financial thought — aims to recognise academic merit and encourage the training of high-quality economists, thereby contributing to the country's economic and financial development. Alongside public recognition, the award includes a cash prize of €2,000 and the chance to complete an internship at the Bank of Portugal, offering valuable insight into institutional practice.
Iscte Business School congratulates João Monteiro Pereira on this distinction, which highlights the quality of teaching and training offered by the school and is a source of pride for the entire academic community. The institution thus reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and to preparing highly qualified professionals who can respond to the challenges of the contemporary economy.
