Álvaro Rosa is a professor of Management. His areas of research and study are Strategy, Governance and Cross-Cultural Management. In addition, he is also a researcher and teacher of Chinese Studies, namely Contemporary China. Currently, he is the Director of Master Degree in Chinese Studies, a joint program of University of Aveiro and ISCTE - IUL. Professionally, he is a coach and trainer in negotiation techniques.
Data Analysis Applied to Management
Elizabeth Reis is full professor of Statistics and Marketing Research at the Department of Quantitative Methods for Management and Economy. She received a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Oporto and completed a Ph.D. in Social Statistics at the University of Southampton, UK. For the last thirty years she has been teaching several undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Statistics, Multivariate Data Analysis, Sampling and Survey Methodology, Research Methods and Marketing Research at the ISCTE Business School, but she took up teaching assignments also at various colleges in Macau, Guanghzou, Chengdu, Mozambique and Cape Vert. Her research interests are focused both on research methodologies, data collection (evaluation of sampling methods and surveys' quality) and data analysis methodologies (multivariate statistics applied to business and management research). She was, until 2010, President of the Scientific Committee of the ISCTE Business School (IBS), Director of the Doctoral Programme on Applied Quantitative Methods and President of the Business and Management Research Unit (UNIDE). She was, between 2014 and 2018, Director of the Quantitative Methods Department at the IBS - ISCTE Business School. She was, between March 2018 and 2022, Vice-Rector for the Development of Human Resources and was appointed Director of the Doctoral Programme in Management in June 2021.

Research interests: Consumer Psychology and personality traits, emotional and social influence mechanisms in behavioral decision-making, customer-brand relationships, AI anthropomorphism and new socialization concepts in the hyperconnected world.

Luisa Martinez is an Assistant Researcher at Business Research Unit (BRU-ISCTE), ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, and an Assistant Professor (Adjunct) at Católica Lisbon Business & Economics. She is also the co-founder of ‘Escola da Cor’/’School of Color’, the first Portuguese institution fully dedicated to teaching and consultancy on color. From 2022 to 2025, she served as President of the Portuguese Color Association. She was also an Assistant Professor at IPAM Lisboa from 2019 to 2025. She holds a PhD in Management (U. Europeia), a Post-graduation in Management (Nova SBE), a Master’s in Color in Architecture (U. Lisboa), and a Degree in Architecture (U. Lusíada). Her research interests include the influence of color and sensory sensitivity on organizational and consumer behavior. More specifically, she explores topics such as retail, packaging, digital marketing, well-being, and the Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) trait applied to marketing. Her research adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating diverse fields such as management, marketing, design, psychology, and education. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed, indexed academic journals such as the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Electronic Commerce Research, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, and Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal.

Margarida SANTOS is a Research Assistant and a PhD Candidate in Management at the Business Research Unit (BRU) of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), Portugal. She holds a Master's degree in Management and a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, both from ISCTE-IUL, Portugal. Adept at leveraging analytical skills and innovative thinking to address complex research questions, Margarida plays an integral role in prestigious European-funded projects, such as the IMAFUSA project, part of the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking, which received nearly €1,000,000 in funding from the European Commission. She is proficient in cutting-edge research, data analysis and project management, and has a strong record of interdisciplinary collaboration. Her research interests include drone technology, governance and its societal implications, strategy and corporate development, technology management and decision-support systems. Her work has been published in leading international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (ABS 3), Technological Forecasting and Social Change (ABS 3), International Journal of Strategic Property Management (ABS 2), Management Decision (ABS 2) and Socio-Economic Planning Sciences (ABS 2). Abel Camelo is currently Project Manager in different projects / companies, mainly related to the implementation of technology, applying the Agile and Waterfall approaches.
He also acts as a instructor/trainer, nationally and internationally, in the area of technology, project management, business analysis, industrial production and logistics.
Previously he was responsible for Infosistema's Business Consulting unit, where he managed and participated in process improvement projects with Lean Six Sigma, BPM implementation and portals development (in OutSystems and other technologies), business continuity, digital transformation (UX / UI Design), among others.
His experience focuses on reengineering and process improvement, business analysis for organizational processes. He has participated in multiple national and international projects, as a consultant and functional analyst, allowing him to identify and implement improvements in clients and to contribute to the increase of the performance of the business processes.
From 2011 to 2014 he worked as a consultant in entrepreneurship projects, business plans and investment analysis, guiding future entrepreneurs and promoting entrepreneurship in projects of various sectors of activity.
Since 2009 he teaches in higher education, in the areas of operations management, logistics and project management, to undergraduate and master's degrees.
He holds a degree in Industrial Management and Engineering and a Master in Business Administration from ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, holds postgraduate degrees in Energy and Bioenergy, in Lean Management and in Information and Enterprise Systems. He is certified in Project Management and Business Analysis by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is a IEFP certified trainer, among other professional certifications.

Fernando Alberto Freitas FERREIRA holds a PhD in Quantitative Methods Applied to Economics and Management from the University of Algarve (Portugal). In 2009, he was awarded a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation fellowship for post-doctoral studies at the University of Memphis (TN, USA). His academic journey includes visiting scholar collaborations at several international institutions, such as the University of Memphis (TN, USA), University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (Chengdu, China), Häme University of Applied Sciences (Hämeenlinna, Finland), Tallinn University of Technology (Tallinn, Estonia), Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (CHIH, Mexico), University of Kaiserslautern (Germany), and Central College of Commerce (Scotland).
Currently, he serves as Full Professor of Strategy and Decision Analysis at ISCTE Business School, University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal), where he coordinates the PhD program specialization in Strategy and Entrepreneurship and directs the Executive Master in Management (for non-Business Administration graduates). Additionally, he holds the position of Adjunct Research Professor at the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis (TN, USA).
Fernando has authored books, book chapters, +180 peer-reviewed papers, and has made +200 conference presentations. He has also delivered keynote and invited speeches at conferences worldwide, including in Albania, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Spain and South Korea. In terms of practical experience, Fernando is a Senior Manager at Montis West Corporation (TN, USA) and has +25 years of experience as a group facilitator. He has provided consultancy services and/or executive education to both private and public-sector organizations. Some of the notable entities he has collaborated with include Caixa Geral de Depósitos (Portuguese state-owned banking corporation), Fidelidade Insurance Company (market leader in Portugal), Infraestruturas de Portugal (Portugal’s rail and road infrastructure manager), Metropolitano de Lisboa (state-owned metro company), Amplexor/Acolad (global leader in digital services), and PERI Brazil (one of the largest providers of formwork and scaffolding solutions in Latin America).
He has also served as evaluator for numerous international projects funded by both European and non-European research bodies, including the Dutch Research Council (NWO) in the Netherlands, the National Science Center under the Ministry of Education and Science of Poland, the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, and the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID) under the Government of Chile. His primary research interests include multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA), strategic decision-making, and integrated systems for performance measurement, with a particular focus on the banking and real estate sectors.

Florinda Matos holds a PhD in Social Sciences (Organisational Behaviour Studies) awarded by the University of Lisbon. She also holds a Master’s degree in Business Sciences from INDEG/ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, and Bachelor’s degrees in Management of Agricultural Business and in Agronomic Engineering, both awarded by the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém.
She is Professor at ISCTE Business School – University Institute of Lisbon, where she teaches in the field of management, and serves as an invited professor at international higher education institutions.
She is an integrated researcher at DINÂMIA’CET – IUL (Centre for the Study of Socioeconomic Change and the Territory). She is also the founder and coordinator of the CoVE – Future Skills Factory®, a skills laboratory and observatory dedicated to the analysis, anticipation and development of skills for a digital and sustainable future. The initiative aims to support public policies, as well as the education and qualification system, by contributing to the identification and development of competencies aligned with the needs of an innovative, inclusive and sustainable economy.
Her research activity is structured around knowledge management, intellectual capital management, measurement of intangibles, sustainability, innovation, additive manufacturing and digital transformation.
She undertook postdoctoral research at NOVA.id.FCT, addressing the social impacts of additive manufacturing. She coordinated the national research project KM3D – Knowledge Management in Additive Manufacturing: Designing New Business Models, funded by FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia and implemented within a national research consortium.
She serves as national coordinator of the European projects CATALYST – European VET Excellence for Leading Sustainable Systems and Business Transformation (Erasmus+) and CERERE – CEreals REsiliency REvolution for Agile Supply Chain Management in the Mediterranean (PRIMA Programme). She also acts as Coordinating Researcher in the project INITIATE – Supporting European R&I through Stakeholder Collaboration and Institutional Reform (Erasmus+).
Her academic contributions include membership of scientific committees of international conferences, where she has undertaken the roles of organiser, speaker, mini-track chair and reviewer, as well as Conference Chair of several international academic conferences. She is also Chair of the Global Forum of Intellectual Capital (GFIC). Her scholarly output comprises more than 50 academic publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, books and book chapters.
In parallel with her academic activity, she has contributed to public discourse through the publication of more than 200 opinion articles addressing economic and social issues and through participation in podcasts.
She currently holds the position of Associate Editor in Economics and Business at Heliyon (Elsevier) and serves as Guest Editor for Springer Nature. She coordinates the thematic line Digital Transformation at the Sociodigital Lab for Public Policy.
With recognised expertise in intellectual capital management, she is the founder and president of the Intellectual Capital Association (ICAA), whose mission is the valorisation of intellectual capital in support of sustainable development. She also serves as Portuguese Ambassador of the New Club of Paris and as European Ambassador of the International Conference on Knowledge and Innovation (CIKI), organised by the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. In addition, she is a member of the Observatory on Knowledge Management and Innovation in Public Administration at IPEA – Institute for Applied Economic Research of the Brazilian Government.

Helena holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University, UK. She is full professor of accounting at Iscte Business School in Lisbon, and previously worked at Bayes Business School in London. She had visiting positions at the University of Miami in the US, where she was a Fulbright Research Scholar, and at Sydney University in Australia. Her research interests are on financial markets, corporate governance and international financial reporting. Helena participates regularly in top international conferences such as meetings of the European Accounting Association, American Accounting Association, and European Finance Association. She is often invited to speak at seminars, conferences, and doctoral meetings of prestigious European and US universities. Helena's research has been published in top journals in accounting and finance, such as the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, European Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance, and Journal of Business Ethics. Her research findings have been used by international organizations dealing with corporate reporting issues, such as the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the CFA Institute, and the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG). Helena serves the community taking roles in various committees of the European Accounting Association, as associated editor of the journals European Accounting Review and Accounting Business Research, and as a member of evaluation panels for recruitment and for PhD grants. During her career, Helena managed various research projects funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation FCT, participated in an European Training Network, and won several awards including Best European PhD thesis in Management by EDAMBA, best conference papers, and best reviewer. Helena has also been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to develop a one year research project at the University of Miami in the US.

José Carlos Dias is Full Professor of Finance at the Department of Finance of Iscte Business School. He holds a PhD degree in Finance from Iscte and is the Director of the Department of Finance. He was also the Director of the PhD in Finance and the Director of the Master in Finance of Iscte Business School. His current research interests include option pricing, structured products and exotic options, volatility derivatives and real options. He has published in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Quantitative Finance, European Journal of Operational Research, European Journal of Finance, Journal of Futures Markets, International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, Review of Derivatives Research, Journal of Derivatives, and Applied Mathematics and Optimization, among others. Maria João Velez is Assistant Professor at the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior. Her research interests include ethical leadership, destructive leadership, followership, emotions in the workplace, occupational stress, coping strategies, having some of her work published in international journals such as Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, European Review of Applied Psychology or The Leadership Quarterly. Pedro is a co-Diretor of ISCTE Executive Education's Executive MBA, Director of the MScBA, and Deputy Director of the Business Research Unit (BRU-IUL) of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), where he is an Integrated Member.
He has authored 3 books and published several articles in top journals, including FT-50 journals - an article in the Harvard Business Review and a Digital Article in the MIT Sloan Management Review.

Rui Vinhas da Silva is Full Professor of Marketing at ISCTE Business School and a Member of the Executive Board at ISCTE Executive Education.
He was Chairman of the Board at COMPETE 2020 (December 2014-May 2016). Holds degrees in Business Management (BAS) and (BAS Honours-Marketing) and Economics (BA) from York University, Atkinson College, Toronto, Canada, an MBA from Aston Business School, UK and a PhD and Post-Doctorate from Manchester Business School, UK.
Before joining ISCTE in April 2010, he was an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) (April 2008) at Manchester Business School (Assistant Professor since 1998). He taught on MBA and PhD programmes at MBS for over 12 years. Since 1998 he taught on several senior executive training programs and held consultancy appointments through MBS. These included: PWC in Baskin Ridge, New Jersey (April 2008) AMAC (British senior military officers) (2000-2004), TACIS (Senior Executives- Russia) (2000-2002), or government officials in Port Dickson, Malaysia (May, 2009).
Vinhas da Silva was Visiting Professor at the Univ. de São Paulo (Faculdade de Economia e Administração) (2000-2004) and taught on their MBA programs (Retail). He taught Executive Masters programs (Logistics) at ISCTE-INDEG, Instituto Superior Tecnico (2000 -2005) and Universidade Católica Porto (2011). He was awarded Masters in Marketing Programme "Teacher of the Year" at ISCTE in 2010-2011 and 2012-2013.Vinhas da Silva has interests in national competitiveness, country branding, reputation and country of origin effects. He has published several books and articles.

Sofia Kalakou is Assistant Professor at ISCTE Business School and Integrated researcher at the Business Research Unit (BRU). She is the Director of the postgraduate program in Future Mobility. She holds a PhD in Transportation Systems (Instituto Superior Técnico, MIT-Portugal program) and before joining ISCTE she worked as a transport consultant. Sofia is coordinating the ImAFUSA project (https://www.imafusa-sesar.eu/) and has previously coordinated the UAMschool4Cities project (https://tp.uamschool4cities.eu/). She participates as a Reviewer at international Journals.

Dr. Ulpan Tokkozhina is an Invited Assistant Professor at ISCTE-IUL with specialization in Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management. She holds a PhD in Management degree with thesis in blockchain technology implementation for supply chain management improvement. Ulpan teaches courses on Operations Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management for both Bachelor and Master degree students. She has co-authored several academic articles and book chapters about the impact of novel technologies on supply chain performance, also won Best Paper Award at EAI INTSYS 2022 International Conference. Ulpan was invited as a guest speaker at an international level - including Mexican University Tecnológico de Monterrey, Molde University of Logistics in Norway and Fundação Getulio Vargas in Brazil. Her current main research interest is novel technologies implementation and use in supply chain context. Currently, Ulpan is involved in a research project "Fish2Fork" curated by EEA Grants and Inov Inesc Inovação, which is aimed on finding novel technological solutions for transparent and sustainable fishing and fish products consumption.
