Abel Camelo is currently Project Manager in different projects / companies, mainly related to the implementation of technology, applying the Agile and Waterfall approaches.
He also acts as a instructor/trainer, nationally and internationally, in the area of technology, project management, business analysis, industrial production and logistics.
Previously he was responsible for Infosistema's Business Consulting unit, where he managed and participated in process improvement projects with Lean Six Sigma, BPM implementation and portals development (in OutSystems and other technologies), business continuity, digital transformation (UX / UI Design), among others.
His experience focuses on reengineering and process improvement, business analysis for organizational processes. He has participated in multiple national and international projects, as a consultant and functional analyst, allowing him to identify and implement improvements in clients and to contribute to the increase of the performance of the business processes.
From 2011 to 2014 he worked as a consultant in entrepreneurship projects, business plans and investment analysis, guiding future entrepreneurs and promoting entrepreneurship in projects of various sectors of activity.
Since 2009 he teaches in higher education, in the areas of operations management, logistics and project management, to undergraduate and master's degrees.
He holds a degree in Industrial Management and Engineering and a Master in Business Administration from ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, holds postgraduate degrees in Energy and Bioenergy, in Lean Management and in Information and Enterprise Systems. He is certified in Project Management and Business Analysis by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is a IEFP certified trainer, among other professional certifications.
Álvaro Rosa is a professor of Management. His areas of research and study are Strategy, Governance and Cross-Cultural Management. In addition, he is also a researcher and teacher of Chinese Studies, namely Contemporary China. Currently, he is the Director of Master Degree in Chinese Studies, a joint program of University of Aveiro and ISCTE - IUL. Professionally, he is a coach and trainer in negotiation techniques.
Pedro is a co-Diretor of ISCTE Executive Education's Executive MBA.
He is an Integrated Member of the Business Research Unit (BRU-IUL) of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), having already authored 3 books and published several articles in top journals, like the Harvard Business Review.
His main areas of interest are General Management, Stakeholders' Management and Negotiation, and Corporate Governance.
Pedro has significant management experience, holding positions in various corporate bodies of large companies, as well as academic management positions.
Pedro has high teaching experience at various levels of education, with very good performance evaluations.
Álvaro Dias, associate professor with habilitation at iSCTE-IUL, has been teaching since 1995, specializing in Tourism, Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Alongside his teaching, he has served as a consultant for various organizations, including the Ministry of Economy, IAPMEI, AIP, AEP, AERLIS, GNR, ACT, CCP, Turismo de Portugal, and numerous private companies.
He holds two PhDs, both awarded with honors (cum laude)—one in Management with a focus on Marketing and the other in Tourism. Additionally, he possesses a Master's in Strategy, an MBA, a Bachelor's in Management, and has completed postgraduate studies in E-business.
Álvaro has led the Economic and Business Sciences department at UAL, directed the Master's and Bachelor's programs in Marketing, and co-directed the Bachelor's in Management at ISG. He also coordinated the Tourism Destination Management Master program at Universidade Lusófona.
As an author, he has written 26 books and published over 240 Scopus indexed articles.
In recognition of his contributions, he received the GNR D. Nuno Álvares Pereira Medal of Merit and a diploma of Commendation in 2022. He was honored with the research award from the Chair of Intelligent Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía and the University of Seville in 2021, followed by the extraordinary research award from the University of Seville in 2023. His co-authored article, "Entrepreneurship's Role on Dynamic Capabilities: A Longitudinal Study on Brazilian and Portuguese Firms," was nominated for the Best Paper Prize at the Strategic Management Society's Special Conference in 2011.
Álvaro has supervised two post-doctoral fellowships, 16 PhD candidates, and 247 master's students. His international teaching and research experience includes countries such as Angola, Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Spain, Poland, Romania, and Finland.
Alexandra MILICI is a Product Operations Specialist at the multinational corporation OLX. She is also an invited lecturer and a PhD candidate in Management at the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), Portugal. She holds a Master’s degree in Management (awarded in 2020) from ISCTE Business School, Portugal, and a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration (awarded in 2018) from ISCSP – University of Lisbon, Portugal.
She was awarded 2nd place in the 2011 Edition of the ISCTE-IUL Investment Game.
With a comprehensive background in both the public and private sectors, she leverages her expertise to offer strategic consultancy services to national and international companies and organizations, enabling them to navigate complex environments and thrive.
Alexandra’s professional journey also includes providing business financial support at Air Liquide, where she supported the Nordics Team, developed and improved financial processes, and analyzed performance indicators. Additionally, she served as a business support analyst at Reloading, excelling in process development and improvement, process audits, and research methodologies. Alexandra’s earlier experience at Steam – Smart Business Services honed her skills in process development, audit, and performance analysis, as well as providing general office administrative services and technical support to management and accounting teams.
Alexandra is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Romanian (mother language). She has successfully supervised several Master’s dissertations and has published in premier international journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (ABS 3) and Technological and Economic Development of the Economy (WoS Q1). Her research interests include strategy and corporate development, open innovation, technology management, and decision support systems.
Daniela Langaro is assistant professor at ISCTE-IUL (Portugal), visiting professor at Catolica Lisbon (Portugal) and collaborated for 5 years with Vlerick Business School (Belgium). Following her 15 years of experience in marketing in companies from Consumer Packaged Goods (Unilever, Procter and Gamble and Danone) and OTC (Angelini Farmacêutica), Langaro moved to academia in 2012. Her general research interests involve issues in internet marketing, social media, brand communications and brand management.
Florinda Matos is PhD in Social Sciences, Organisational Behaviour Studies, by the University of Lisbon. She has a master’s degree in Business Sciences from INDEG/ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, a Bachelor’s Degree in Management of Agricultural Business, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomic Engineering, both by the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém.
She is a Professor at ISCTE Business School – University Institute of Lisbon, where she teaches several courses in the areas of management. Also, she is a professor of knowledge management at IPPS-IUL - Instituto para as Políticas Públicas e Sociais and she is an invited Professor at several international universities.
As DINÂMIA'CET – IUL, Centre for the Study of Socioeconomic Change and the Territory integrated researcher, her main research interests are Knowledge Management, Intellectual Capital Management, Measuring of Intangibles, Sustainability, Innovation, Additive Manufacturing and Digital Transformation.
She was a post-Doc researcher in the Social Impacts of Additive Manufacturing at NOVA.id.FCT and led the project KM3D - Knowledge Management in Additive Manufacturing: Designing New Business Models, in a national consortium, funded by FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
She is currently the national coordinator of the CATALYST - European VET Excellence for Leading Sustainable Systems and Business Transformation project, in a European consortium made up of 36 partners, led by academic institutions from Germany, Austria, Greece and North Macedonia.
Florinda is a member of the scientific committee of several international conferences, where she has participated as an organiser, speaker, mini-track chair and reviewer. She has more than 40 published academic articles and scientific papers, chapters, and books. She has also been an active participant in the press, where she has published more than 200 articles of opinion on issues of economic and social actuality, being invited to several podcasts.
She is currently Conference Chair of the following conferences: ISM 2023 - International Conference on Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing; ECKM 2023 - 24th European Conference on Knowledge Management; and ECRM 2023 - European Conference on Research Methodology for Business and Management.
Presently, she is associate editor in the area of Economics and Business at Journal Heliyon (Elsevier); a Guest Editor of Springer International Publishing, Journal Meditari Accountancy Research (Emerald) and Journal Sustainability and is also a Topical Advisory of the Journal Knowledge. In addition, she is a member of the Editorial Board of Revista Mátria and Revista Mátria Digital, edited by the Research Center Professor Doutor Joaquim Veríssimo Serrão (CIJVS).
She is coordinator of the Thematic Line "Digital Transformation" at the Sociodigital Lab for Public Policy and member of the implementation team of the AI4PA Digital Innovation Hub.
As an intellectual capital management expert, Florinda is the founder and the president of the Intellectual Capital Association (ICAA), whose mission is to help transform intellectual capital into added value by contributing to sustainable development. Also, she is a member of the New Club of Paris, an international organisation whose main objective is to create awareness about the Knowledge Economy. Moreover, she is promoting an award alongside the Portuguese public institutions to encourage and reward companies that value Social Sustainability. Also, she is the ambassador for Europe of the International Conference on Knowledge and Innovation (CIKI), organised by Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil).
Likewise, she is a member of the Observatory on Knowledge Management and Innovation in Public Administration, from IPEA - Institute for Applied Economic Research of Brazilian Government.
Isabel Duarte de Almeida is an assistant professor with 27 years of experience in higher education and is the coordinator of Research Lines in Sustainable Development. She teaches at ISCTE-IUL, Portugal, and at Universidade Lusíada and participates in academic activities abroad, including at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) at the University of Cambridge, the University of Palermo (UniPa), Sicily, Italy, and the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) in Germany.
Isabel Duarte de Almeida holds a 5-year degree in Biology from the University of Lisbon (UL/FC, Portugal) and earned her first PhD in Biology at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science. She also holds a second PhD in Sociology and Sustainability Management from the Nova University of Lisbon (UNL/FCSH, Portugal), a postgraduate degree in Circular Economy from the University of Berkeley, a postgraduate degree in Sociology from UNL, and a Field Epidemiology – Outbreak Investigation course from the National Health Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge.
She was a researcher at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science for 12 years. She has published in Q1 and Q2 journals (Scientific SCOPUS index), in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and acts as a reviewer for AoM and EurOMA conferences and Springer. Her research interests include Sustainable Development, Circular Economy, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Sustainability, and Green Supply Chains.
Ongoing research projects:
Project I: The EM@IPLeiria project from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria aims to address the challenges of the digital and green transition in the Leiria and Oeste regions, promoting deeper cooperation between education, research, companies, and society. Focused on transforming academic knowledge into regional value, the Mission Structure (launched in March 2023) brings together key actors from the region to, in a participatory way, drive strategic and operational development, promoting resilience, sustainability, and the creation of wealth in the local ecosystem.
Project II: INOVMINERAL 4.0 - Advanced Technologies and Software for Mineral Resources. The main objective of this project is to redirect innovative industrial models for the extractive industry, developing advanced technologies, new products, and software for the entire value chain: upstream processes, mineral resource valorisation, and market. The project has a strong focus on the Circular Economy.
Project III: Business students’ perceptions of ethics and sustainability in business. This research area explores business students’ perceptions of corporate ethics and sustainability management.
José Dias Curto is full professor at Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL Business School, Quantitative Methods Departament) and investigator at Business Research Unit (BRU-IUL), Lisboa, Portugal. He earned his PhD in Quantitative Methods for Management from the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL), MA in Management from Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) and Bachellor's degree in Economics from Instituto Superior de Economia, Portugal. His primary research focuses statistics and econometrics with applications to finance, accounting and economics. Margarida SANTOS is a Research Assistant and a PhD Candidate in Management at the Business Research Unit (BRU) of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), Portugal. She holds a Master's degree in Management and a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, both from ISCTE-IUL, Portugal.
Adept at leveraging analytical skills and innovative thinking to address complex research questions, Margarida plays an integral role in prestigious European-funded projects, such as the IMAFUSA project, which is part of the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking and received funding from the European Commission amounting to nearly 1,000,000 euros. Proficient in conducting cutting-edge research, data analysis, and project management, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, she possesses a keen interest in the emerging field of drone technology, governance, and its societal implications. Her research interests also encompass strategy and corporate development, technology management, and decision-support systems.
